It’s been 20 years since the last Pink Floyd album came out, and apparently David Gilmour is ready to get the band on track again. The report surprised fans and was first advanced by Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson, via Twitter: ‘Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called ‘The Endless River,'” Samson wrote.

The news was confirmed on Facebook by the singer Durga McBroom-Hudson, who performed with the band throughout the 1980s and 90s: ”The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled ‘The Big Spliff’ that Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then.’ Durga go further on the details :’It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them.’

Gilmour also recently started working on a solo album. He enlisted the help of David Crosby and Graham Nash to perform on it. With these two upcoming albums and the announcement that former Floyd Roger Waters is also recording a solo album, it’s a perfect year for Pink Floyd fans.
