Pär Sundström, bassist of the Swedish metal band Sabaton, has announced his latest projectLord of Metal, which has already taken off spectacularly. The project has raised £95,471, surpassing its original goal of £19,029; it was 300% funded in just 48 hours. Lord of Metal delivers a unique experience where rock meets gaming, allowing players to manage concerts and festivals in a music simulator set for release in 2027.

More Musicians are Branching Beyond Music

As music continues to digitize, more musicians are exploring new avenues in the digital space, including online gaming. With the UK online gaming sector valued at £7.82 billion in 2023, there’s never been a better time for musicians to tap into the market. The casino industry drives a significant portion of the gaming sector’s success.

Many games are also becoming more suited to new players, with complete guides available that break down the rules. For example, this makes it easier to learn how to play Adventures Beyond Wonderland live, and Crazy Time Live, before depositing any money. These games emphasize speed, simplicity, and luck, providing a distinct experience compared to traditional casino games. With such a diverse gaming landscape, Lord of Metal seems poised to thrive.

An Authentic Heavy Metal Festival Simulator

The bassist for the Swedish heavy metal band Sabaton came up with the idea some time ago. He wanted to give people the chance to run a heavy metal festival using real-world insights. Players will make critical decisions affecting their band’s legacy, such as negotiating with factions, hiring staff, arranging infrastructure, and securing sponsorships. You can recruit a crew, curate lineups, personalize sound, FX, and even the tour bus. The game is non-linear, so there is always something new to explore.

A standout feature of the game will be its soundtrack, inspired by various heavy metal bands. Although several games have taken cues from rockstars, Lord of Metal is unique in its approach, which may explain why it has exceeded nearly every funding milestone.

Sabaton’s Expanding Horizons

This isn’t the first time the Swedish metal legends have branched out. They recently announced that their Tour to End All Tours concert will be shown at cinemas across the UK. They also have their annual Sabaton Cruise, which continues to attract thousands of metalheads from around the globe.

Sabaton recently released a cover of Motörhead’s song 1916, with their album War to End All Wars topping album charts across the globe. Sundström’s latest move with Lord of Metal is set to make waves in the metal world and could open doors for future collaborations. These developments highlight the increasingly blurred lines between music and gaming. Given the success of other music-themed games, it’s clear why Sundström’s bold venture into this space is already paying off.
