“I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.“
This Tuesday, the Foo Fighters vocalist Dave Grohl announced in a statement that he is the father of a baby girl born “outside of my marriage.” The news was shared via the musician’s Instagram, where he promised to be “a loving and supportive parent” to his new daughter, asking for privacy during this delicate time for the family.
The Instagram post does not allow any comments and ends with a request: “We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
When questioned by the American press, Dave Grohl’s spokesperson refused to make further statements on the matter, thus keeping the identity of the baby’s mother and the date of the girl’s birth a secret.
This is the second marriage for 55-year-old Dave Grohl, who was married to photographer Jennifer Youngblood from 1994 to 1997. Youngblood, known for her work in the grunge music scene, collaborated with Grohl during his time in Nirvana. Interestingly, the reason for their divorce was also infidelity.
Dave Grohl, who married Jordyn Blum in 2003, already has three daughters: Violet Maye, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10.
Last year, the singer accompanied his wife and three daughters to the Grammys, where they posed for photographers in a rare public family appearance. In July of this year, before the infidelity scandal emerged, Grohl and Jordyn Blum attended Wimbledon together. This was during the European leg of Foo Fighters’ tour, where they watched the matches from the VIP box alongside David Beckham.
Dave Grohl joined Nirvana in 1990, bringing a dynamic and powerful drumming style that helped propel the band to stardom. After the tragic end of Nirvana in 1994, Grohl channeled his grief into music and recorded the first Foo Fighters album by himself, playing all the instruments. This self-titled debut was released in 1995 and marked the beginning of his journey as a frontman.
Under Grohl’s leadership, Foo Fighters became one of the most celebrated bands in the rock world over the next 30 years.
