Good news for fans of the former The Smiths frontman: Morrissey has announced a North American tour for the fall! This much-anticipated tour will span 14 cities, kicking off on Halloween (October 31) in Houston, Texas. Morrissey will stop in cities such as Dallas, Little Rock, Birmingham, Knoxville, Durham, Baltimore, Newark, Atlantic City, Rochester, and Flint.
This tour announcement follows Morrissey’s two-night run at the House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas last month. Fans can look forward to experiencing his iconic performances and classic hits in venues across the continent.
On his Instagram account, a statement was shared about this exciting occasion:
“There is currently something happening, a finesse and ferocity coming from Morrissey and the band that is unparalleled to anything I’ve seen in my tenure as Morrissey’s guitarist for over 21 years. It’s an infectious excitement coming from him directly manifesting through the band and into the audience leaving everyone in a euphoric state,” said Jesse Tobias, his touring guitarist.
“As much as he and the band have historically been put against the ropes, doubted, disregarded and judged while others are given a free pass, Morrissey and the band will liberate and astound everyone with our forthcoming releases and shows … that’s if you are open to music as a method for change and genuine excitement.”
Morrissey has a reputation for canceling tours. According to We Heart Music, he has canceled numerous tour dates over the years due to factors ranging from exhaustion to the mismanagement of tour funds. Earlier this year, Morrissey canceled two special concerts in Los Angeles and subsequent shows in Latin America, intended to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his album “You Are the Quarry” in California. According to his tour manager, Donnie Knutson, Morrissey was under medical supervision for physical exhaustion.
Regarded as one of the most influential figures in British pop music, Morrissey first rose to fame as the lead singer of The Smiths, releasing four critically acclaimed albums in the 1980s. The band is often credited with shaping the sound of alternative rock with hits like “This Charming Man” and “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out.” After The Smiths disbanded, Morrissey embarked on a successful solo career, releasing 13 studio albums. His most recent album, I Am Not a Dog on a Chain, came out in 2020.
In recent years, Morrissey announced two other albums, Without Music the World Dies and Bonfire of Teenagers. While these albums have yet to be released, the latter is said to be “forthcoming,” sparking anticipation among his dedicated fanbase.
Beyond music, the British singer is a longtime advocate for vegetarianism and veganism. He has consistently used his platform to promote animal rights, most recently receiving the 2024 Social Vanguard Award for outstanding service and dedication to this cause. His commitment to these principles is reflected in his music and public statements, making him a notable figure in music and social activism.
