Sonus Festival, Pag Island, Croatia (19-23 August 2018)
By the time you read this, the early-bird tickets for Croatia’s Sonus Festival are already sold out. The festival takes place on the Pag Island off the country’s Adriatic shore, filled with bizarre rock formations that offer the event an often surreal backdrop. Sonus has everything a modern-day festival goer needs: sunshine, summer breeze, waves, exciting parties on board and on land, and lodging in campsites, hotels, hostels, and other locations.
Sonus is a great place for techno and EDM lovers. Last year, its lineup included big names like Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos, Tale Of Us, and many others.
Boardmasters Festival, Cornwall, UK (8-12 August 2018)
Sun, surfing, and live music – this is what Cornwall’s Boardmasters Festival has for its visitors. Boardmasters is an event with a long history – the first edition was organized in 1981, growing gradually over the years to accommodate its current attendance of over 50,000 participants. Most music performances take place near Watergate Bay, while the surf and other sports events are held on Fistral Beach nearby.
Last year, the headliners of the event were Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai, The Flaming Lips, and Stormzy, among others.
Electrobeach Music Festival, Port-Barcarès, France (12-14 July 2018)
Electrobeach Music Festival (EMF for short) is a relatively recent addition to the European festival circuit – its first edition took place in 2009 in Port-Barcarès, a commune in Southern France bordering the Mediterranean Sea. It is a small locality with a small population (under 5,000) but it attracts ten times the people during the festival.
The 2017 lineup of the event had headliners like Tiësto, Avicii, David Guetta and Calvin Harris, and similar names are expected to perform in 2018.
Dimensions and Outlook, Pula, Croatia (30 August – 2 September and 5-9 September 2018)
Two music festivals held days apart at Fort Punta Christo in Pula, Croatia. Dimensions Festival has a lineup of mostly underground electronic and urban music artists, with styles like house, techno, urban, reggae, drum ‘n’ bass and more featured on its stages. Outlook Festival has a similar profile, with dubstep, reggae, hip-hop, ragga, Drum and Bass, Garage, House, and techno artists taking the stage. Both festivals have been nominated for a UK Festival Award.
Primavera Sound, Barcelona, Spain (May 30 – June 3 2018)
Primavera Sound started out as a rock festival but it grew to accommodate all other styles, from pop and rock to underground electronic and dance music. Over the years, it has been headlined by bands like Korn, Queens of the Stone Age, Tame Impala, Wu-Tang Clan, Aphex Twin, and many others. It takes place at the Parc del Fòrum, a waterfront complex built with major events in mind, facing the Mediterranean Sea.
