Ed Sheeran Smashing UK Records with ‘Divide’ Album
Ed Sheeran’s new album ÷ (divide) continues to smash records in his homeland of the UK, and it is showing no signs of slowing down as he targets overtaking fellow Brit Adele in the all-time album sales charts.
Friday 3rd March 2017 marked an incredible day for the singer-songwriter after his album smashed one day streaming records on Spotify, overtaking The Weeknd who set the bar at 29 million for first-day streams for an album with Starboy in November 2016. UK’s national treasure Sheeran then almost doubled that with ÷ with an incredible 56,727,861 streams.
The 26-year-old also managed to top The Weeknd’s record of best one-day streams for an artist, with his 68,695,172 streams beating the Canadian artist’s 40.3 million. There is one more incredible statistic. Sheeran also holds the record for the best one day streams for a track, with “Shape of You” getting more than 10 million streams on Friday 3rd March, the record was previously held by himself for the same song released earlier on Jan. 6 with 7,940,950 streams.
Sheeran now is now valued at a cool $65 million after his incredible three records and many sell-out shows, the only way to get anywhere near that level would be with a Energy Casino promo code that would help you earn a fair dime – but no matter the singer-songwriter is killing it on many levels.
While he is busy smashing Spotify records, his album sales for ÷ reached an incredible 1 million UK sales in just 16 days, while he is hogging the top three single slots in the UK with “Shape Of You”, “Galway Girl” and “Castle on the Hill”. Sheeran shows no signs of slowing down.
But he still has a way to go to beat Adele’s incredible record of 20 million copies for her last album, 25, from 2015. The bar has been set, can the redhead level the playing field?
