The Best Joy Division and Ian Curtis Wallpapers
Formed in the wake of the punk explosion in England, Joy Division initial days was filled by rage in punk form. Later they incorporated synthesizers and more haunting melodies and tortured lyrics by Ian Curtis.
The band was founded in early 1977, soon after the Sex Pistols had made their first appearance in Manchester. Renamed Warsaw (from David Bowie’s “Warszawa”), the band change the name to Joy Division in late 1977.
Despite their short career and cult status, Joy Division have exerted a wide-reaching influence. The band’s dark and gloomy sound, has influenced bands ranging from contemporaries U2 and the Cure to other artists such as Radiohead, Interpol, Bloc Party, Editors and Arctic Monkeys. In 2005, both New Order and Joy Division were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame.
