We’re picked up unawares by the news of the death of Academy Award-winning actor Robin Williams, yesterday (Monday,Aug. 11). Williams was found unresponsive in his home in an apparent suicide. The actor was 63 years old.
The world has reacted with obvious regrets, but also with gratitude for the legacy he leaves behind. Some music celebrities have left messages like Andrew W.K., Dave Navarro, Jared Leto, Flea, Tom Morello among others.
Williams’ influence was vast, and spanned across film and television to music as well with five Grammys and three charting albums on the Billboard 200. In December 1999, he sang in French on a video with other international celebrities (including figures as diverse music as Laurie Anderson, Spice Girls, James Brown and Jamiroquai) – the interpreted song was ‘It’s Only Rock & Roll‘, (The Rolling Stones), and the goal was to collect funds for an institution of child support. Unforgettable is also its connection to ‘I Feel Good‘ by James Brown in the film Good Morning, Vietnam.
Musiclipse pays tribute to the actor, by remembering his best musical moments.
