We already entered in 2014 (Happy New Year to Everyone!!!) with the head and ears put on some releases. Among awaited returns from Wilco, Frank Ocean, Tool and Fleet Foxes we are thrilled and await with more expectation over those who are for us The 10 Most Anticipated Music Releases of 2014.

 

10 – Damon Albarn – (Everyday Robots / April, 28)

Damon Albarn will debut his first solo album produced by XL Records boss Richard Russell. You can see a teaser with a 21-second YouTube video here. The singer’s new clip marks the first official announcement that he is indeed stepping away from Blur and Gorillaz. This album hasn’t a official release date, but we know that according to the Wall Street Journal, Blur will begin working on a new album, their first in 11 years, once Albarn’s solo LP has been released.

 

 

9 – TV On The Radio – (TBA)

In the last month of November TV on the Radio have confirmed they are working in a fifth album. The art-rock visionaries confirmed the news via Facebook where you can read: ‘Time to let the cat out of the bag: We’re working on a new record. Right this very moment. Meow, y’all.’ It will be the band’s first album since the tragic death of bassist Gerard Smith.

 

 

 

8 – ‘St. Vincent’ – (St. Vincent / February, 25)

St. Vincent will return with her fourth album on February 25. The 11-song LP is titled St. Vincent’ and was recorded in Dallas with Dap-Kings drummer Homer Steinweiss and Midlake percussionist McKenzie Smith.The album is produced again by John Congleton after having producedActor’ in 2009 and ‘Strange Mercy’ in 2011.

 

 

 

7 – ‘Morning Phase’ – (Beck / February)

Beck will release his new album ‘Morning Phase’ by Capitol Records, this next February. The album features many of the same musicians from his 2002 great Sea Change’ album, and you can listen here to ‘I Won’t Be Long’ one of the three known singles , the others are ‘Gimme’, and ‘Defriended’.

 

 

 

6 – Metallica – (TBA)

Metallica used the conference on Comic Con last summer to announce that they would enter the studio to release a new album in 2014. After they turned up in movie theaters with the 3-D movie ‘Metallica Through the Never’, we all expect a well return to the studio albums ( has been five years since the release of ‘Death Magnetic’ .)  In a recent interview with the Oakland Press James Hetfield hinted: ‘ We have tons of material to sift through. That takes a lot of time, because there’s a lot of great stuff ‘.

 

 

5 – ‘Out Among The Star’ – (Johnny Cash / March, 24)

Johnny Cash’s ‘Out Among the Stars’ will be the newly uncovered material from the late country singer’s 1980s archive. Recorded by Cash and Billy Sherrill in 1981 and 1984, was never released by the country singers’ then label Columbia Records . ‘Out Among The Stars’ will be released by Legacy Recordings on 24 March 2014.

 

 

 

4 – ‘High Hopes’ – (Bruce Springsteen / January, 14)

Bruce Springsteen will release the successor of ‘Wrecking Ball’, from 2012, in January 14, it will be the sixth studio album in 10-years! ‘High Hopes’ is mostly a collection of covers and unreleased songs from the past decade, and have Tom Morello in most of them.

 

 

 

3 – Foo Fighters – (TBA)

Foo Fighters is like one of the most important American Rock Bands , and for us is a major new to know that they will release a new album three years after ‘Vanishing Point’.

 

 

 

2 – U2 – (TBA)

One of the biggest releases of 2014 will be the new U2 album. Rumor is that the band will announce the new album for an April release during a Super Bowl commercial. The true is that Clayton said on 98 FM’s Dermot and Dave show: ‘We’re in the studio. We’re trying to get these 12 songs absolutely right and get them finished by the end of November, and then we can kind of enjoy Christmas,’.

 

 

 

1 – Led Zeppelin Catalog Reissues – (TBA)

The most expected happening of the year will be the Jimmy Page‘s promised of revisiting the entire Led Zeppelin catalog. Reportedly, this will include a box-set version of each album, complete with unreleased studio and live songs.
