The North Americans The National unveiled today the first single from the new album Trouble Will Find Me. The song is called Demons.

The inaugural single from the new album, finds Matt Berninger expiating his demons. The video portrays an artist drawing the album cover with chalk on a blackboard, a woman with her face to embedded on a glass wall.

Trouble Will Find Me comes out May 2nd via 4AD and features collaborations from Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent’s Annie Clark and Sharon Van Etten, among others.

Frontman Matt Berninger revealed to NME that ‘[the album] is a record about getting older, and all the fascinations and headaches that go with that. But it’s not grim, honestly! It’s actually pretty fun. Bands spend a lot of time in vans. You go to sleep knowing you’re on a coach that has to get from France to Germany in 10 hours and you wonder, ‘What if I never wake up? I have a daughter. What’ll happen to her if something happens to me?’
