The first thing that comes to my mind when i think of Las Vegas, as incredible as it seems, is C.S.I. Las Vegas TV Show. Not because it is my favorite serie, but here in musiclipse.com we are addicted to music and we love songs such as ‘Who are You’, the main theme of the C.S.I. soundtrack, sung by The Who. This song marks a television phenomenon, but not the city itself, and it is in this context that we created a list of the best songs made about the city of Las Vegas, and how some of them in one way or another marked forever.
Las Vegas beyond being the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’ is also a place of light, fun, music and love… Las Vegas is a philosophy for living, a place where crazy things happens and where history is constantly made.
I´ll give you same examples:
– the famous group ‘Rat Pack’ (which, among others Sinatra and Dean Martin were members) was named after a night in Vegas;
– same Sinatra was responsible for introducing B.B. King in Vegas clubs, opening doors to black entertainers;
– In 1968, after seven years away from the stage, Elvis returned to live performance in a celebrated comeback TV special that led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of profitable tours;
– Ike and Tina Turner got their start there in the 1970’s.
A city of spectacle, where a lot of musicians and bands were born (The Killers) or grew up. Not to mention the films.
Among others songs you can take a look at the list below, we can start with the super hit of Sheryl Crow: ‘Leaving Las Vegas’ – a song that give Sheryl some notoriety when she told David Letterman that it was autobiographical – passing through one of the best songs ever made, ‘Tumbling Dice’ from The Rollings Stones where the narrator is a serial cheater who can’t stay faithful to any one woman. ‘Sin City’ not the movie but the music from AC/DC, is a perfect song to introduce a wild weekend in Las Vegas.
