The world adored the XX‘s Mercury Prize-winning debut album XX, nobody in this world seems to have forgotten the day that got dragged by the first chords of Crystalised. Coexist presents a version of The XX that listeners will recognize, but it is proper to remind that in here, there is almost nothing new. The details are still an essential part of the functionality and beauty of the work from British trio, and it is here you have to enjoy the album and their likely differences with the previous XX.
Despite Angels and Chained have been chosen for singles, in Angles lack’s the exuberance of the inaugural Intro while on Chained as well as on Reunion, they risk (and well!) on distant sonorities accredited to electronic music – it sounds like Untrue by Burial, one of the pioneers of dubstep.
We’ve crossed the album by some beautiful songs like Fiction, Sunset and Tides, but we must get to the second last theme, Swept Away, so that this implosive environment suffers a shake – courtesy of Jamie xx, who have space here to show his worth, in the more danceable episode of the alignment.
The album ends with the silent Our Song, in the deep, it is what the album is about, and it sounds especially good in the fall-winter season which is now beginning.
