After listening to the album on repeat 5 times, what we have to say is the following:
This album can be heard at a stroke, without skipping a single song. More and better drums and microphones, but still we like this album as much as the debut Gemini (2010), another jackpot.
Tatum is simply one of the best songwriters in this field and Nocturne as well as his band is an interesting mix of The Radio Dept., Twin Shadow, Real Estate, with obvious influences from classic Smiths. This combination has a cool and entertaining effect that makes us smile, makes us happy (speak from personal experience). If you do not believe, listen to “Nocture”, “Only heather”, “Always Dissapear” and “Paradise”, some of these songs are pop at their best, without touching the commercial, standing out among the best songs on the album. Note also to “blue dress” that have a nicely audible bass line…simply fascinating.
Any list of the best albums of 2012, with a minimum of good taste, will have Nocture somewhere … brilliant album.
