Mercury Prize Winner – Alt-J

One of the the most desired awards that a band or a musician can achieve was assigned to the British Alt-J, during the awards ceremony Barclaycard Mercury 2012.

The band that made his debut this year with An Awesome Wave, brought home one of the most treasured awards in the UK. They overtook names such as Django Django, Richard Hawley, Jessie Ware or Plan B.

Formed in Leeds in 2007, the band was voted for the best album of the year in the UK, thus consecrated the prestigious Mercury Prize, award won last year by PJ Harvey’s Let England Shake, . The radio journalist Lauren Laverne hosted the gala which enshrined the Roundhouse in London, some surprised Alt-J, which proved to be still “processing…“. During the acceptance speech, the band said: “We might just thank everyone on team Alt-J who has ever made a difference.” They also thanked their parents for “not making us get jobs“.
